Your
Hosts, Jeannie and
Greg Doolan
moved back to Armidale ...
|
...
six years ago and after a short time, moved into their home
in Braund Street. They fell in love with the quiet, peaceful and
friendly neighbourhood and the open, rural atmosphere, so close
to town.
In previous years, after spending ten years raising their family
at Walcha Road, on the Oxley Highway and subsequently at Bundarra,
80 kms west of Armidale, Jeannie and Greg returned to Sydney for
the childrens further education.
Jeannies family the Darbys, pioneered the Inverell district,
(north west of Armidale) having been awarded a grant of land called
"Tiengah" which stretched from Inverell, and part of the
way to Tingha. Her grandmothers original home, "The Grove"
has pride of place at the Inverell Pioneer Village and her grandmothers
of two previous generations to that are buried in the Bundarra Cemetry.
Jeannies Father was born at Inverell, her Mother and Father
were married at Inverell and the first brother was born at Inverell.
It really felt like returning home when your hosts finally took
up residence again in the New England.
